Conductor Speaks "Kangaroos" | Carnival of the Animals

In this video, conductor Morihiko Nakahara discusses Camille Saint-Saëns’s movement “Kangaroos.” Nakahara notes that, like in the “Wild Donkeys (Swift Animals)” movement, this piece features two pianists—but it creates a very different character. The music consists of short, jumpy notes that move quickly up and down the keyboard, playfully depicting kangaroos hopping about. The video concludes with the South Carolina Philharmonic performing “Kangaroos”from The Carnival of the Animals.
