Lesson Overview
In this lesson, students explore the role of a musical conductor while engaging with Finale from The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns. Students will learn and practice basic two-beat and three-beat conducting patterns, analyze musical elements such as meter and dynamics, and apply their understanding by conducting the piece. They will also develop writing skills by composing a short concert review using appropriate music terminology, taking on the perspective of a music critic. Through discussion and reflection, students will connect their musical experiences to real-world music careers, including composer, conductor, and music critic, while considering the skills required for each profession.
