Lesson Progression
After viewing the video, discuss the role of decomposers in the environment focusing on
the movement of matter in the ecosystem.
Provide students with multiple methods of creating a visual that demonstrates the role of
the Carrion Beetle as a decomposer. Students may use magazine pictures they cut out,
draw, or create visuals using canva, ppt, or google drawing pending your school district
technology. Students should be able to fully explain how the Carrion Beetle functions
as a decomposer and transforms matter in the environment.
