There is a need for re-ordering public policy. Millions of dollars in funding are spent on disaster relief, when money should be spent on disaster prevention and preparedness. Many peoples’ homes are having to be renovated in order to withstand the increasing amount of storms and floods. The best way to pro-actively pursue long term preparedness is for a gathering of experts, like scientists, public officials, engineers, economists, and environmentalists to sit down and discuss the best courses of action to plan for the future.
