KidsECON Episode 2: Bank Lesson

Introduce the video by preparing student to learn about banking.  Ask students what they know about the bank and how it works (slides provided in the resource tab).

Show KidsECON, Episode 2 "Bank" for the class (see in resource tab)

After watching the episode, consider these discussion questions when talking with your class.

-How does a bank help keep money safe?

• The bank stores money for people in their accounts. 

-What does a bank help us do?

• Some things to consider: save money, get money, borrow money, invest money

-What are things you might see in a bank?

• Some things to consider: ATM machine, Bank safe, Money (bills and coins), checks

-Who works at the bank?

• Bank teller, security guard, bank manager

SUPPLEMENTAL ACTIVITY: 

These are additional activities you can use at your own discretion as an extension to the video:

1. BANK VOCABULARY CARDS (See in resource tab)

• The vocabulary cards are intended for use as a whole group activity to promote discussion after watching KidsECON episode two.
• Use the vocabulary cards to review the information learned in the video.
• Cut out each vocabulary card for use.
• These can be printed and used in a pocket chart, put on chart paper, or used in a center.

2. IDENTIFY THE COIN SORT (see in resource tab)

• Students can sort by coin and value
