From Standards to Success: USHC 2 | EOCEP Assessment Design Exemplar

Explore a completed model of evidence-centered assessment design for USHC Standard 2. Using the Missouri Compromise as an instructional anchor, this exemplar demonstrates how selected-response (SR), evidence-based selected-response (EBSR), and technology-enhanced (TE) items can align with the Historical Thinking Skill of Causation and appropriate Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels. The resource models the use of historical evidence, provides rationales and expected responses, and illustrates how Performance Level Descriptors (PLDs) can inform interpretation of student performance and instructional support. Educators can use the exemplar as a reference when designing or refining EOCEP-style assessments that measure standards-aligned historical thinking.
