The Pelagornis Sandersi Ancient Seabird | Curiosity Trek!

What if we told you that the largest flying bird ever recorded in world history once graced the skies over prehistoric South Carolina?

In this season 3 premiere episode of "Curiosity Trek!", host Andrew travels down to the Charleston Museum to view fossils of the Pelagornis sandersi, including a full skeleton hanging from the ceiling! The Pelagornis sandersi is unique for its massive wingspan, and for being a pseudodontorn, or a "false toothed bird". Ironically, the most intact skeleton ever found of a Pelagornis sandersi was unearthed during an expansion of the Charleston Airport.

The Charleston Museum's Curator of Natural History Matthew Gibson joins the show once again to elucidate on this ancient seabird.
