After brief introduction by host Bette Jamison, Commissioner Earl Hunter, SC DHEC, encourages us to eat more fruits and vegetables and promote healthy living.

Then Susan Collier, MS, RD, LD with DHEC hosts discussion about why we should eat all colors of fruits and vegetables with Brooke Harmon, MS, RD, LD and Director of Dietary Interventions with USC Cancer Preventions and Control.  In addition, some healthy recipes are shared.

Then Susan S. Frost, MS, RD, LD, Bureau of Community Health and Chronic Disease Prevention with DHEC, and Kristen D. Welch, MS, Upstate Area Coordinator for EFNEP at Clemson University, talk with Susan Collier about how we can get more servings of fruits and vegetables in our diets at a low cost and also use local grown produce.

Commissioner Hugh Weathers, SC Department of Agriculture, talks about making changes to live a healthier lifestyle and using fresh Certified SC Grown products. Following we hear from Beth Crocker, General Counsel/School Garden Coordinator with SC Department of Agriculture, and Todd Bedenbaugh with SC Department of Education’s Food Services and Nutrition, to learn about the SC Farmer’s Market Took Kit, SC Grown Campaign and the Fruit and Vegetables Snack Program in our SC schools.
