Marcelo Novo - Pine Needle Art | A Natural State - Episode 4

Kaltura

Marcelo Novo, a well-known South Carolina artist and self described "city boy," felt a bit out of his element at the Art in the Park event. Without paintbrush and canvas, Marcelo struggled to apply his abilities to the nature-based art form. Creativity was sparked after discovering that pine needles could replace paint and a small grassy area could act as canvas. Marcelo’s flowing line drawing of pine needles and sticks bridged an industrial aspect of the landscape to the newly reclaimed forest at Cypress Park.
