Charleston Cotton Exchange | History of SC Slide Collection

As important as the growing of cotton was its marketing, and in this the Cotton Exchange played a powerful role in the local economy. All of the members of the Charleston Cotton Exchange were important political, as well as, economic leaders in the Lowcountry. Here, laborers work inside a cotton warehouse in Charleston at the turn of the century.
