Partner Circle Run
Objectives: TSWBT use locomotor skills while racing with other students in a small-sided game during class
Equipment:
- 4 Hula hoops
- Cones/poly spots
Set-up: Place four hula hoops in the middle of the gym (As shown in resources)
How to play: Students will be partners. Have the students decide between them who will be partner 1 and who will be partner 2. Have each set of partners stand on or around a poly spot (1 poly spot per team).
The teacher will either yell “Partner 1” or “Partner 2” in order to start the game. The partner that the teacher shouts will then run in a clockwise circle around all of the other students and back to their partner. When a partner that is running makes it back to his/her partner, they must crawl through the open legs of their partner and try to get inside one of the four hula hoops before the other teams. The first four people to get both feet inside one of the four hula hoops win a point for their team. The team that is the first to reach five points wins the game.
- Remind students that they must be very careful when running towards a hula hoop because there may be other students trying to get to the same hula hoop as them.
After each game, the teacher can have the students switch partners and/or add or take away hula hoops to change the level of difficulty
Modifications:
- Have students perform different exercises before they can crawl between the legs of their partner
- Instead of having the students run, they can skip, gallop, or hop around the circle
