Georgia O'Keeffe: A Woman On Paper | Carolina Stories - Episode 3

Georgia O’Keeffe created many charcoal art drawings during her time in Columbia, and her works eventually made their way to New York, earning the recognition of Alfred Stieglitz. O’Keeffe briefly returns to New York, where she forms a romance with Stieglitz. O’Keeffe moves to West Texas to take up a teaching post, and picks up where she left off in South Carolina. During her stay in West Texas, O’Keeffe and Stieglitz corresponded regularly with letters. Stieglitz continued to represent O’Keeffe, and eventually in 1924, the two were married.  O’Keeffe ceases her creation of abstract artworks due to criticism, and begins more realistic paintings.
