Earthen Cycle - The Sphere | A Natural State - Episode 3

Kaltura

The spheres of Earthen Cycle are made from a mixture of Portland cement, sand, kaolin and red clay. Layers were gradually built up like a pot. After a layer dried to a semi-soft state, it was shaped by carving and scraping, and another layer was added on top. Weathering will eventually cause the construction process to reverse. Layers erode away to reveal the various textures, sediments, and striations buried within the sphere's ephemeral structure.
