Sitting Down To Write | National Book Month

Have you answered your question? After April and Anthony are satisfied with their answers, they finally sit down to write.

Like other stories, a story based on facts can have a main character, a setting, a problem, and a resolution.

  • The main character is the person, animal, or thing your story is about. You can have several characters, but the main character is the most important one.
  • The setting is where your story takes place.
  • The problem is some sort of challenge your main character must face. It could be a question in need of an answer.
  • The resolution is how your character solves a problem.

Where do you find these things? Look in your field notes and in the other information you have gathered for a main character, a setting, a problem and a resolution.
