House Chamber Photos | The SC State House

Pictured from left to right above.

Rostrum: The House rostrum is extremely valuable and was skillfully crafted by artisans of the Columbia Lumber Company. It is made of hand-carved British Mahogany.

Representative's Desks: Members of the House are seated by delegation. This allows them to discuss the effects that pending legislation will have on their districts. During the renovations, state-of-the-art laptop computers were added to the House and Senate chambers. Members of the House vote electronically with the buttons on the left side of their desk.

Seal: The House seal was created by combining the mace, the symbol of the authority of the House, with the state seal of South Carolina.

Wall Covering: The seal of the South Carolina House is woven into the wall coverings of the House Chamber.
