Garden City Beach, 1986 | History Of SC Slide Collection

Development has drawn increasing numbers of people to the coastal regions of the state since the Second World War. This photo by Bill Scroggins of Garden City Beach in 1986 shows the high tide lapping at the edge of buildings. The Coastal Council has become concerned that the lack of setback ordinances may endanger the preservation of the beaches for future generations of South Carolinians and visitors to our state.
