Building Boom Along the Grand Strand | History of SC Slide Collection

South Carolina's postwar prosperity led to a building boom along its golden coastal area, the Grand Strand. The cares of the 1980s included a concern about the ability of the beaches to sustain continued development. Here, a severe winter storm left damaged homes and erosion to the beach area in Garden City. Photo by Donna Bise, March 23, 1983.
