The issue: Many people love playing different sports because of the competition, to release stress, lose weight, and to make friends. But occasionally playing sports can cause injuries whether it is a minor cut, broken bone, concussion, etc. Lots of times these injuries are just a result of freak accidents but sometimes they are due to lack of correct technique. Let’s pretend that we work in the field of physical therapy or physical training and we want to help prevent injuries in sports. We can do this by creating posters or ads that show the incorrect technique of a sports skill and then show the correct way to perform that skill. You and a partner will take two pictures of yourselves performing a specific skill. One picture will be the incorrect way of doing the skill while the other picture will be of you performing the skill using the correct technique. Once you have the two pictures you and your partner will label each technique with at least 4 ways that show you are either doing the wrong technique or the correct technique. Some skills that you may choose but are not limited to include:

  • Throwing a baseball or football
  • Catching a baseball or football
  • Passing or spiking a volleyball
  • Kicking a soccer ball
  • Running, jumping, hurdling, etc.
  • Tackling in football
  • Shooting or passing a basketball

·      Any other idea you may have…ask the teacher!

The poster must include:
1.Title and names (both partners)
2.At least two pictures (One of the incorrect technique and one of the correct technique). Make sure that you label which picture is the correct or incorrect technique. You can either take the pictures yourself or find pictures on the internet.
3. Each picture must have at least 4 ways that they are doing either the incorrect or correct form
4.Must be eye-catching and neat
5.Must present your finished product to the class
-Explain what skill you chose and why
-Explain each technique (incorrect and correct)
6.Must have works cited page
