Students will be given a case summary to read on Brown vs. Board of Education Topeka (1954) court case. Brown vs. Board of Education Cases Summary. Students will read through the summary and analyze both the argument for and against the supreme court ruling for Brown vs. Board. Students will use this time to define the key vocabulary words as well and find the main theme in the case summary of Brown vs. Board.

The teacher will then facilitate a 4 corners activity where students will write on posters in the room arguments supporting or against the Brown vs. Board decision.

Students will review the previous day's notes and discussion at the beginning of class. Students will then view the Brown vs. Board How the Case Moved Through the Court System Visual.

Students will look at the interactive website on KnowitAll.org on Lamar High School Lamar High School Lets Go. The students will then be able to work independently to look at the video explaining Lamar High School’s history in Darlington County School District and the conflicts that ensued between white residents of Darlington county in their attempts to stop integration in public schools in Darlington County schools.
Phase 1 Students will watch the video about the history of Lamar High School Independently
Phase 2 Students will look at the interactive 3D virtual tour of Lamar High School and the Lamar High School Gymnasium

Students will complete the lesson with a 15 minute essay on the impact of Brown vs. Board of Education on students in public schools and on schools in South Carolina and peer review with other students to foster collaboration and analysis of documents and the interactive website detailing Lamar High School.
