Objectives: TSWBT to increase cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength by performing different exercises during class.
Prerequisites: Knowledge of different exercises, ability to read
Equipment:
- Deck of "UNO" cards (possibly 2 decks depending on class size)
- colored signs with an exercise listed (1 of each color in UNO deck)
How to Play: Each student will be dealt a UNO card. Students should not turn the card over until the teacher tells them to. Once they turn over the card they will look to see which card they got as well as what color the card is. Once they figure out the card type and color they are to perform activity based on what they received. Activities and card types are below.
Activities based on color:
Red: Pushups
Blue: Squats
Yellow: Sit-ups
Green: Jumping Jacks
What to do based on card:
Number Cards: the student does the number of repetitions indicated at the activity station corresponding to the color. Example: A student draws a card that is 7 blue. Go to the blue sign with the exercise listed and do 7 squats or whatever exercise that sign has listed.
Skip Card: skip one lap around the gym
Reverse Card: jog/walk one lap backward around the gym
Draw 2 Card: draw 2 more cards from the regular UNO deck and perform the activity which corresponds to the card color using the number of repetitions indicated by the number on the card.
Wild Draw 4 Card: draw 4 cards from the regular UNO deck and do all 4 activities with the repetitions based on the number on the card.
Wild Card: draw 1 card from the regular UNO deck and do the activity with the repetitions based on the number on the card.
After completing an exercise based on their card, the student will give the card back to the teacher and the student will be dealt another card. You can continue this for a set amount of time or have the student complete a certain number of cards during the class.
