Episode 4 focuses on the attempts of the North to take back Fort Sumter and hopefully bring the war to an end. This episode illustrates the struggles of African American soldiers who fought bravely on Morris Island within sight of Fort Sumter and how their efforts changed the Civil War. [Here we meet Alex, a drummer in the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, and learn of his thoughts and emotions.]
