Anne was one of the first female doctors in South Carolina to practice medicine. This story covers her humble beginnings to later in life being inducted into the South Carolina Hall of Fame. Despite prejudice from both her family and community, Anne proved that women could succeed. Taped on location at several sites throughout the state, this drama inspires young people to achieve, despite any odds or prejudice. Dr. Anne Austin Young had many battles to win before being allowed into medical school. Even upon graduation, she faced prejudice that she wasn’t good enough just because she was a woman. This story shows the many trials she encountered and worked to overcome in order to follow her dream.
