Ovenbird | The Cove Forest

Ovenbird

(Seiurus aurocapillus)

This bird requires mature hardwood forests for successful breeding. Often observed walking on the leaf litter of the forest floor searching for insects. Its call is heard as a repeating chorus of, "teacher, teacher..." This species is called an ovenbird because its nests on the ground in structures that resemble old-fashioned clay domed ovens.
