• Semi-parasitic plant that gets some nourishment from other plant roots
• Also called Wood Betony
• Hairy plant with tubular, 2-lipped flowers
• Short, dense flower cluster - all red, all yellow or a combination of red and yellow
• Upper petal lip arched with two small teeth
• Leaf-like bracts below flower
• Farmers once thought cattle and sheep became infected with lice when grazing on these plants
• Lives in woods and clearings
