• Usually 3-4 inches long
• One of the largest found in the area
• Abdomen looks like a darning needle
• Compound eyes are reflective
• Eyes are set close together so it has no problem seeing anything that moves
• Ovipositor well developed
• Strong flier, difficult to catch
• Seldom stop to perch and hang vertically when perched
• Feed on Mosquitoes and other small insects
• Habitats include ponds and swamps
