Bungalow Style Building | History of SC Slide Collection

This bungalow style building represents the adaptation of this style to the needs of the sea islands. The commandant's quarters at the U.S. Naval Station on Parris Island, it was photographed by members of the Red Cross team who came to South Carolina in 1892-1894 to direct relief efforts after a devastating hurricane destroyed crops and livelihood on the islands.
