Superhero Tag
Objectives:
- TSWBT move around an open space without running into someone
- TSWBT follow rules and instructions of the game
Equipment: 2 Tennis Balls, Gym Space
How to Play:
Students will be playing a game of tag that requires them to move freely within an open space. The students will be working on personal space and body control while playing the game. The students will also be working on avoiding the taggers while trying to unfreeze other students.
The game will start when the teacher says go or starts playing music. A tennis ball will be given to each of the two taggers. When the signal is given the taggers will begin trying to tag as many people as possible with their tennis ball. Taggers should tag students on the arm or the back, NOT in the stomach or face. When a student is tagged, they will freeze in a superhero position (feet spread apart, one hand on hip, one hand in the air). The only way for that student to be unfrozen is if another student crawls through their legs.
Rules:
- Taggers cannot tag someone in the stomach or the face
- Taggers cannot tag someone that is attempting to unfreeze another student
- Taggers cannot “Puppy Guard” (guarding a frozen student by blocking other students from crawling in-between their legs)
- Players may not travel outside of the playing area
Extensions: You can work on different locomotor movements by incorporating skipping, galloping, or hopping during the game instead of the students running/jogging.
