Nuke ‘em

Objective: TSWBT throw and pass a ball in order to attempt to land the ball inside of the other team’s court

Equipment: Volleyball net, Foam ball

Set-up: Students will be separated into two teams with one team on each side of the net

How to play: Once you have students separated into two teams have one team sit on one side of the net and the other team on the other side of the net. This game is about students learning spatial awareness and strategy because they have to try and figure out the best place to throw the ball in order to earn a point. This game is similar to volleyball except students are catching and throwing the ball instead of hitting it back and forth.

One team will start with the ball and can either pass it to a teammate or throw it over the net to the other team. Each time a team receives the ball they can pass it up to 3 times before the ball has to go over the net. Once the ball is thrown over the net, the other team will attempt to catch it before it hits the ground. If the ball lands on the ground inside of their court the other team gets a point. If a team throws the ball out of bounds, the other team will receive a point. Students cannot touch the net with their body. If they do that is an automatic point for the other team. Players cannot run when they have the ball in their hands (must pass it or throw it over the net). If a player runs with the ball, the other team earns a point. If a ball does not go over the net and hits the floor the other team receives a point. Players cannot throw the ball to themselves and catch it (would be like a double hit in volleyball). When a team earns a point, that team starts the next round.
