Lucky 6
Equipment: Foam Dice, Gym Space
Objective: TSWBT exhibit knowledge of how to do each exercise as well as demonstrate body control when running, galloping, skipping, etc..
Set-up: Have students spread out around the gym next to a wall. Explain to the students where the 6 corners are; 1 in each corner of the gym and 2 on the longest wall (see set-up in resources).
How to play: When the music starts students will begin to jog around the “jogging track” in a clock-wise manner. Explain to students that they are doing a light jog and not racing around the track. When the music stops, everyone should stop where they are and walk to the corner that is closest to them. When every student is in a corner, the teacher will roll a foam dice. Whatever number the dice lands on is who comes to the middle of the gym (ex. If the dice lands on the number 3, every student that is standing in corner 3 will come to the middle of the gym). For the next round, everyone that is still on the jogging track will continue jogging when the music starts. Everyone that is in the middle of the gym will begin doing an exercise of your choice when the music starts. After each round the dice will be rolled and more students will end up in the middle doing exercises. The only way that the students in the middle of the gym can go back to the jogging track is if the teacher rolls the number 6.
Some exercises that I do: Jumping jacks, line jumps, lunges, pushups, squats, planks, sit-ups
Extension: Instead of having the students jog the whole time on the jogging track you could have them skipping, hopping, galloping, or walking.
