Days 1- 5

• Share with students resource links via Google Classroom. 
• Have students log onto South Carolina Career Information System. Hover on the tab "Who Am I?" then click on "Career Cluster (48)" assessment tool. Students will take an assessment to determine their career cluster and occupations based on their interests. Students should then record their top three clusters and explore occupations within the cluster. Finally, students should choose one career to research according to cluster and an occupation. 
• Give students Career Research Template to guide their reserarch. Students are to use the resources shared, and if needed, conduct a Smart Google Search of additional online sources to complete research. 
• Towards the end of the their research, students are to find data to represent salary projections in South Carolina and the salary averages in the United States. The data could be an image or students can create data (charts, graphs, etc.) to represent information gathered. 

Days 6-10

• Students create digital brochures to represent information about career. Share Brochure Template via Google Classroom. Students are to include text features that would attract an audience interested in their chosen career (bold headings, photos, captions, charts, diagrams, italicized words, etc.) 
• Model for students how to use the EasyBib to cite sources for the Works Cited section of the brochure. 

This lesson can be adapted for grades 4-8. 

Use informational writing rubric to evaluate the quality and requirements of brochure.
