Book Tasting

teacher will need bins of books of different genres (recommended 6 different genres) - see Menu for ideas
Lesson Progression
1. Prepare 6 different stations (table clothes and cookies/crackers optional) with a basket of books within a genre (i.e. adventure station, mystery station, comic book station, etc.)
2. Students will need the Book Tasting Doc (see lesson resources)
3. Place a menu at each station (see lesson resources)
4. Students will visit 3 different stations of their choice - one non-fiction station is required
5. At each station they will spend roughly 10 minutes reading the beginning of the book and answering the questions on the Book Tasting Doc.
6. When the timer is up, they will pick a new station to visit.
7. After the book tasting is complete, students will have an idea of what book they'd like to check out to use for independent reading.
