Lesson Progression
1. T: Today we are going to compare and contrast the characteristics of amphibians and reptiles. During this lesson, you will examine the physical attributes of amphibians and reptiles, as well as study other characteristics that the two groups have.
2. Teacher will read the story ‘Welcome to the Green House’ by” Laura Reagan. After the read-aloud the teacher will hold a discussion about what was learned through the story.
3. The teacher and students will conduct the amphibian vs. reptile skin test using hard boiled eggs.
4. After the experiment, the teacher will go through the PowerPoint while making connections to the read-aloud and experiment that was done previous.
5. After the PowerPoint, students will be asked to write a paragraph about what they learned about reptiles and amphibians. They can write about the experiment, similarities or differences between the two, etc. Students should create an illustration to go along with their paragraph.
6. Students should be given around 20 minutes to complete their writing. After the students have finished, the teacher should allow students the opportunity to share their work.

Assessments
