International Day of Peace and World Day of Peace

Established in 1981, International Day of Peace provides a date for all people, the world over, to commit to peace. In 2001, the General Assembly voted unanimously to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire.

World Day of Peace is celebrated January 1st of each year and invites all people to reflect upon the important work of building peace.
