Description

In his later years, Andrew Pickens tries to retire, but is called back into service with the War of 1812 on the horizon. In the interval between the American Revolution and the War of 1812, Pickens moved away from Hopewell Plantation, and became prosperous; one of the major planters in Pendleton, South Carolina. At the time of his death, Pickens was a member of the South Carolina elite, both in stature, and public acceptance.
