A New Front, Part 5 - Operation Shingle | South Carolinians In WW II - Episode 5

Also known as the Battle of Anzio, Operation Shingle was an allied amphibious campaign, under command of Lieutenant General Mark W. Clark, and Major General John P. Lucas.  S.C. veterans remember the battle, and discuss their experiences. Soldiers faced tough terrain, inclement weather, and constant barrage of German artillery fire.  The battle was a victory for the allies, resulting in the capture of Rome, Italy.
