Kaltura

Michael Tecklenburg is pursuing a career in law and politics. But what makes Michael Tecklenburg stand out is that he is pursuing his education at Columbia University Law School, and his career, while simultaneously overcoming adversity. He was born deaf, but he is not letting that hold him back from his potential future.

This segment shows Michael’s early life. Michael, along with friends and family, talk about what it was like for him to grow up with his disability. Michael’s condition gradually grew worse as he got older, and by the time he arrived at the St. Louis Central Institute for the Deaf, he was considered “profoundly deaf.” After nearly a year of testing, Michael was accepted at the St. Joseph School For The Deaf. At St.Joseph, Michael had daily one on one drills with teachers who knew the solutions to Michael’s oral and auditory adversities.
