Malloy Family Singers

The Malloy Family Singers, of Chesterfield in Chesterfield County, have been performing gospel music together for over twenty years. Their repertoire encompasses traditional and contemporary music of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The significance that the AME Church attributes to musical expressions of faith provides the foundation for their participation in gospel singing. The Malloy Family Singers perform regularly at community functions throughout Chesterfield County, as well as at anniversary sings throughout the Southeast. Their music reflects and maintains the vitality of African-American gospel music in South Carolina. The Malloy Family received the Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Award in 1991.
