Adam Style is an 18th century neoclassical style of design, developed by brothers Robert and James Adam. The style was influenced by classical elements, and featured Roman motifs, such as medallions, scrolls, sphinxes and nymphs, and painted ornaments, such as swags and ribbons. Curved walls and domes, and striking pastel color schemes gave this style a lighter feel than the Georgian rooms that preceded it.
