Hildrud Steiner

Ms. Hildrud (Wendy) Steiner is the proud owner of Gasthaus zur Elli in Newberry County town of Prosperity. This authentic German restaurant features recipes prepared daily by Ms. Steiner.

She learned to cook by watching both her grandmother and mother cooking when she was a child in Germany. She came to the US in the late 1990s and carries on the family tradition in her restaurant.

Gasthaus zur Elli has received many local and state rewards and was even named one of the best German restaurants in the nation. The Newberry Oktoberfest benefits greatly every year from her service, though the community can enjoy her food all year.
