Miriam Barbosa
Miriam Barbosa received her classical training and earned her MFA from the University of Fine Arts at Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is a former member of the Martha Graham Dance Company and a former USC Assistant Professor of Dance. She founded the SC School of Contemporary Dance as a Division of SCCDC, established in 2007 as a non-profit organization.
Miriam Barbosa and Marcelo Novo collaborated to create the multimedia dance performance Catharsis.

Astor Piazzolla, an Argentinian composer, created the music used in Catharsis. The music provided some unique challenges to the choreographer and dancers.
