A. Celebrate United Nations Day

On October 24, 1945, 51 countries came together to create the United Nations, or the U.N.. Its purpose was to promote peace and cooperation around the world. Today the United Nations is an organization made up of 193 countries, almost every nation in the world!

The United Nations declared October 24 as United Nations Day in 1947. The event was to be observed by all member countries. United Nations Day continues to be celebrated globally, as part of United Nations Week.
