Chile: A Nation of Poets | A World of Poetry

Chile

Chile has been called "a nation of poets." At a recent poetry convention in Chile, over 20,000 Chileans came to hear the work of poets from around the world. Two Chilean poets, Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral, have won Nobel Prizes for their poetry.

The following is a poem from Mistral's well-known book for mothers and children, Ternura, or "Tenderness," and a famous poem by Neruda.

Proceed to "Rocking" and then to "Fleas Interest Me So Much."
