Lesson Progression
- Teacher will create a KWL Chart with students on the Solar System.
- Read the story, ‘Solar System’ by: Jill McDonald
(Add to the KWL Chart and discuss with students what they learned from the video and read-aloud.)
- Students can work individually, or in groups. Assign students one planet from the Solar System to research and create a project on it. Students should be given multiple days to complete the project. They can choose how they want to present their planet, whether it be in a Google Slide presentation, writing sample with pictures, collage with the information included, etc.) Allow students to be creative with it.
(Another idea is to have students create their own planet to add to the Solar System. Have students provide details on their planet, what it would look like, etc.) They would present it in the same way.)
