Lesson Progression
- The teacher will begin the lesson by asking the students what comes to mind when they hear the word ‘season’.
- Give students time to think and share answers aloud. The teacher should write down the student’s responses on the board.
- The teacher will show PowerPoint to students on the four seasons. Depending on what season it is, the teacher will make sure to point out what season is taking place at that time.
- After the PowerPoint, the students will go back to their tables and be given an activity sheet. The sheet will have the four seasons listed in four different boxes. The students will also be given items that could be seen in each season. (clothing worn, leaves, rain, snow, sunshine, etc.) The students will place the items in the square that they think it belongs to.
- Give students 10-15 minutes to work. (Teacher should be walking around and assessing students work during this time.)
- Once time is up, the teacher will go over the activity and have the students take turns sharing what they placed under each season and why.
- Students will go back to the carpet and the teacher will have the ‘Guess the Seasons’ video up on the board. The teacher will stop the video at each season and have the students guess aloud as a class what season they think they are talking about in the video.

Assessments
The students will be assessed during the time they are working on the matching activity at their tables. If the students are able to match the correct items with the correct season, then the teacher knows that they understand the concept. If they are not able to do this, then the teacher knows that they still need more work on this concept.
