Project Based Learning Brochure or Infographic

After having read articles and/or novel that relates adolescent struggles or the story of a parent who looses his or her job, students will research an agency that families might refer to for assistance.  This authentic assessment will culminate in the publication of a brochure or infographic that can be placed in the school office or even a public business.

Infographic app or Microsoft Office with Microsoft Publisher

Lesson Progression

Day 1- Students choose one of the agencies listed.  Then students scan the website and record basic information on a storyboard that they have divided into eight parts.  
Day 2-  Students set up a template from Microsoft Publisher or an infographic app.  They use the storyboard information to plug in an image on the front of the trifold brochure.  The contact information, various types of services, hours of operation, location, and examples of help that have been provided in the past to families in need.
Day 3- Print out brochures or infographics so that the public can take advantage of the services the agencies have to offer.  The rubric is the basis for grading the final project.
