Objects and Light

1. Students will begin the lesson on the carpet.
2. The teacher will explain to students that they will be learning about light and how it is used to see objects. The teacher should make sure to go over the definition of light and create a discussion with students on how light is seen/used in our everyday life.
3. After students have had time to think and discuss the many ways light is seen, the teacher will have students watch a video on objects and light.
4. Once the video is over, the teacher will conduct a student debrief on what they learned from the video. (no more than 5-7 minutes)
5. The teacher will have students break off into groups of no more than 5. Each group will be given a poster board and a pack of markers. They will create a poster on all the things they learned about light and how its used to see objects. Students should use words and pictures to show their knowledge. Give students 15-20 minutes to complete this task.
6. When the time is up, students should return to the carpet and sit with their groups. Each group has the opportunity to come up and share their poster with the class.  

The students will be assessed through the questioning that takes place at the beginning of the lesson and during the student debrief. They will also be assessed with how much they contribute to the group, and what they demonstrate to know about light from the posters they create.
