First (2 minutes)
Let’s Sing & Play (Hello Song)
C Major/Duple
•lead students in a hello song
•warm up singing voices
•move different body parts with flow and steady beat
•utilize different dynamics and audiation
Second
Follow My Beat Duple Chant (4 minutes)
•lead a steady beat activity with body percussion
•use call & response to encourage student patterns
•introduce Ostinato=short repeated pattern
•introduce duple rhythm notation
Third
Cup Rhythm using This Old Man (11 minutes)
•demonstrate cup game rhythms
•help students identify the patterns
•lead students in cup game rhythms with simple ostinato to accompany the song
•lead students in cup game rhythms with more complex patterns to accompany the song
Fourth
Minoeska Recording of a Russian Folk Dance - Shenanigans (9 minutes)
•introduce students to AB form (same & different)
•lead cup movement to different sections-macro beats & micro beats
•give ostinatos for A & B sections and then listen and perform again
•encourage students to create their own movements

Review concepts of the day (2 minutes)
