Other Instructional Materials or Notes:
Students will need items to temporarily "mark" their bingo cards. Think about providing items such as red/yellow chips, mini erasers, or paper coins.
Lesson Progression
1. Prepare Bingo Cards: Note that the set includes 8 unique bingo cards. This game does require a higher level of rigor with the conversions, so consider allowing students to play in partners.
2. Prepare Bingo Markers: Provide each student with a set of bingo markers. (see notes section for ideas).
3. Play the Game: Draw a bingo ball or slip of paper from the container and call out the metric unit and measurement. For a higher degree of challenge, call out another conversion of the measurement! Students who have that measurement on their card can mark the corresponding square. The first student to mark a complete row, column, or diagonal wins!
Teacher Notes
differentiation: Provide students with the conversion sheet linked in the resources tab to assist in making conversions. If additional support is needed, provide further examples for each conversion.
extension: Have students research unique situations in which converting within the Metric System is necessary. Students will create 3 word problems to accompany the situations and create an answer key. Students can trade tasks and complete.
