Lines, Line Segments, and Rays
Through a mini-lesson, independent work, and a math station, students will learn what lines, rays, and segments are draw examples and identify them using specific characteristics.

Lesson Progression
1. Pass out the note sheet provided in Lesson Resources. Say to students: Today we are going to learn about lines, segments, and rays: all items we use in geometry and in creating two-dimensional shapes.
2. Pass out rulers if you like lines to be exactly straight in note taking.
3. Begin PowerPoint. Throughout the slides, have students take notes about different types of lines. Be sure to note the difference in end points, and line names.
4. There are also embedded opportunities for volunteers to come up and demonstrate their knowledge.
5. At the end of PowerPoint, there are four problems the students will need to complete. These items are displayed on the board, but also on their note sheet. This is a good time for teacher you to walk around to observe and ensure understanding, pull a small group, etc. You may need to review items they seem to not understand. Encourage them to look back through their notes for guidance, as well.
When students are finished with their independent practice, begin the game.
a. Split students into groups of 2.
b. Pass out game cards (found in Lesson Resources)
c. Students will roll a dice.
d. Students will place a marker/counter on one of the corresponding pictures on the gameboard.
e. The first player to get four in a row wins.
Teacher Notes
Differentiation: Consider lessening the number of problems.
Extension: Add additional figures to the bingo cards.
