Lesson Progression
Day 1:
- Mini Lesson: Use Line Plots google slides already created in the Lesson Resources. Print for students. Use Day 1 slides - work through these together.
- Independent Work: Print Independent practice problems Day 1.
- Small Group: pull groups to help with independent work, fractions, or multiplying.
Day 2:
- Mini Lesson: Use Line Plots Google Slides and display Day 2 - work through these together.
- Independent Work: Print day 2 of independent practice problems.
- Small Group: pull groups to help with independent work.
Day 3:
- Mini Lesson: Use Line Plots Google Slides and display Day 3 - work through these together.
- Independent Work: Print day 3 of independent work.
- Small Group: pull groups to help with modeling adding fractions.
Day 4:
- Mini Lesson: Use Line Plots Google Slides and display Day 4 - work through these together..
- Independent Work: Print day 4 of independent work.
- Small Group: pull groups to help with modeling subtracting fractions.
Day 5: Review
- Use and print the Review Questions (Line Plots) in the Lesson Resources. Give one to each group and have them solve together. Make sure they are understanding and on the right track, and when it is solved correctly, give them another one. This process will continue for each group.
Teacher Notes
Differentiate: Utilize small groups to address misconceptions. Consider mixing of students in heterogeneous and homogeneous groups. Work out a problem incorrectly and have students identify the error.
Extend: Have students create their own Google Slides to be used on day 5. Slides should include real-world questions with work and solutions.
